Portable sensor for measurement of radius and wedge angle
Application: - windshields of cars, helicopters, airplanes
The "WAS 160" serves for the measurement of wedge angle and radius of curvature of windshields, e.g. of cars. In principle it can be used for each transparent object. These parameters are general quality criteria. They are important in particular, if by help of special projectors informations were in-reflected in the field of view of the driver. If the parameters deviate noticeably from the demanded values, double pictures or indistinct pictures can develop, which make the projector useless. The “WAS 160” was specially developed to measure both parameters with one and the same sensor. The sensor consists basically of a motorized focusable autocollimator with image processing system for data acquisition and -evaluation.
Autocollimator
The autocollimator serves for the measurement of the wedge angle and the radius of curvature of the windshield. There are many applications for the autocollimation principle and we recommend the associated literature for more detailed informations.
Usually an autocollimator is “focussed” to infinity, so that the autocollimation image develops only as reflection on flat surfaces. If a spherical surface is to be brought in autocollimation position, is to be focused on their center of curvature, to optain a reflection image. The focusing is done via shifting the front lens of the autocollimator objective. In the measuring head this is realized by a stepping motor and a spindle with small upward gradient.
