RINGMASTER is designed for non-contact measurement of the inside diameter of the rings used to manufacture beverage cans. Measurements are made using a fully automatic, non-contact, optical system that is software controlled and user-friendly. RINGMASTER is designed specifially for the measurement requirements of iron wall rings in the beverage-can manufacturing. The adaption to comparable measuring tasks is possible without problems. The instrument is built on a durable mechanical structure to ensure, good ergonomics and problem-free operation.

Measuring procedure
The ring under test is placed manually on the measuring surface. It is located against 2 reference stops to ensure exact positioning. The measuring surface is stepper-motor driven, serving as a precision turntable. During measurement the ring under test is turned once through 360°. The operator can shoose between 4 and 12 diameter measurements. The software includes test-specimen data-base from which the operator can select the data for the desired test. The operator can add test-specimens to this data-base as needed. Optionally a measuring protocol can be provided for each
measurement.
 


Only 4 keys for all measuring functions
All of the necessary software functions can be executed using only the 4 steel operator keys near the specimen holder. The PC keyboard is needed only for special inputs such as modifying the data-base, formatting files etc.. The durable constuction of the RING MASTER achieves a measuring accuracy of 1µm or better even under rough site conditions.
The RING MASTER is laid out to minimize operator error and prevent damage to the instrument
when properly used.
 


Software requires only 4 keys, no training.

Minimal operator training is the result of the user-friendly software interface. Clear procedural instructions combined with simple, 4 key operation allow fast familiarity without training. The software is divided into three password protected hierarchy levels; measuring mode, operator mode and service mode. The standard PC keyboard is not used for measuring mode.
 


Plausibility checks prevent faulty measurements
Small variations in temperature can lead to changes of the ring under test and the measuring system itself. The operator is alerted to temperature changes so as to maintain the high measuring accuracy of the RINGMASTER. Progressive calibration eliminates these temperature influences on the internal equipment. Therefore become outside -, interior and program under test temperature by the software monitor.
Furthermore the specimen position and the cleanness of the specimen were tested by software.
